This Dwelling is situated within a rural setting between the town of Athenry and Kitullagh village, the site itself is lined with mature trees to the northwest and to the south westerly facing views. The passive solar gains, views, prevailing winds and integration into such a large site informed our design approach. With the entrance to the north east side of the site provides sheltered entry.
A central circulation axis northeast and southwest renders distant views to the southwest and connects to back garden and mature trees which are 100m behind the house.
Yet to be completed by the clients, is the external works with a new sunken garden to the southeast of the dwelling. This will act as a private enclosing space to enjoy and reflect on items. A proposed large mound to the front of the house further integrates the house into the rural landscape
